The Siirt pistachio is grown in two separate terroirs in Türkiye: the Siirt pistachio that we process is cultivated in the same terroir as the Antep pistachio, though the production is not widespread like the antep pistachio and is concentrated in the southern and central parts of the southeastern Turkish province of Şanlıurfa, on the eastern bank of the Euphrates. The other Siirt variety is cultivated further east, close to Türkiye’s border with Iraq and Iran, where the geography is much more mountainous and the climate is transient between arid-continental and alpine, compared to the arid-Mediterranean climate of the areas surrounding the Euphrates valley, that are the provinces of Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa and Adıyaman.
